A huge NDGAI welcome to new team member Katy

Start-up company NDG Artificial Intelligence Ltd (NDGAI) recently welcomed a new member to the team, an amazing achievement during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Katy Chilvers joined the team in the role of Business Administration Apprentice and fulfils her day-to-day role alongside completing an apprenticeship at Peterborough Regional College.

Katy, whose experience is in customer service and administration, particularly in the optics industry, works in the Marketing and Communications Team, but she is on hand to help the whole company with administrative tasks. As an apprentice, she will learn a range of new skills while working towards a recognised qualification and progresses her career.

Emma Long, NDGAI Marketing and Communications Manager said: “The company needed somebody on hand to help with administrative tasks. This seemed the perfect opportunity to take on an apprentice and help them build a career, while at the same time we gained the business support we needed.

“Katy stood out at the interview stage for me as she had life experience and a hunger to succeed. She’s worked hard to provide a home for her young family, and now her children are a bit older, she wants to build herself a career. I respected that and wanted to give her the opportunity.”

Onboarding a new member of staff during a pandemic hasn’t been easy for the team. Social distancing measures have meant that the induction and training process has been completed remotely, which has been challenging and more time consuming than usual. However, the team made the best of a bad situation and look forward to the day they will meet Katy in person.

Katy Chilvers, NDGAI Business Administration Apprentice said: “The first three months at NDGAI have been interesting and challenging. I have learnt so much about the software as a service (SaaS) industry, something I had no prior knowledge of before.

“I am aiming high and hoping to learn more about business and the SaaS industry so I can make a significant contribution to the success of NDGAI.

“It’s strange having not met everybody in person yet, but hopefully soon we will be able to get together, and I can put faces to the names of people who don’t have webcams.”
