Unless you’ve been living under a rock you will have seen numerous posts about our flagship product OptifAI and how it’s a game-changer!

What’s that? I hear you ask….How is OptifAI a game-changer?… Well, I’m glad you asked!

In this series of blogs, we will cover the many innovations that OptifAI offers and explain how NDGAI is changing the game when it comes to scheduling home care services.

In our first blog, we will be looking at schedules. In its simplest form, a schedule allows care companies to forward plan a large percentage of their calls or visits. For example, you could assign care worker Alfred Pennyworth to all visits with service user Bruce Wayne and this can be repeated ad infinitum. The logic behind this is that unless Alfred is on leave, unable to work – perhaps sick or on a training course, this visit will always be covered.

Using this method allows social care companies up and down the country to allocate all visits whilst keeping staff costs down. Let’s look at the numbers.  A home care company with 100 care workers, each with 20 visits per week has to schedule 2,000 visits! If they are able to forward plan 50% of those visits the number of care coordinators needed to keep things ticking over decreases by 50%.

Forward planning or repeating schedules that roll over from one week to another has become industry standard and accepted as the way things are done. The only other way of scheduling home care visits would be to replan your rotas once per week or once per month and this would get out of hand quickly not to mention make scaling up your homecare business nigh on impossible.

But what are the negative side effects of using this business model? Well, it’s no secret that the social care sector and homecare, in particular, is a fast-paced, ever-changing world. What is true today is unlikely to be true in six weeks, let alone six months’ time. From the moment you save a schedule, it starts to degrade, this could be for a number of reasons. From the fairly pedestrian, such as service users or care workers who used to like each other, changing their minds. Going back to our example, Alfred might like looking after a young Bruce Wayne, however, when he starts dressing in black and getting all “emosh like” he might well change his mind, or vice versa! There are more sensitive and crucial reasons that a solution might degrade.  This has the potential of being life-threatening. A client who might have had relatively basic care needs could, unfortunately, take a turn for the worse and develop more complex care needs or need medication administered. I am sure we can all appreciate that if your best care worker is not assigned to this service user, it could be a recipe for disaster.

This is where OptifAI is changing the game. OptifAI, for the first time ever allocates the most optimal, efficient and cost-effective solution in a matter of minutes, with no degradation, historically present with repeated schedules. But wait there’s more! OptifAI allows you to clearly define your business goals and objectives.  Whether it’s cost reduction and profitability, maximising worker utilisation, improving service quality, guaranteeing compliance, or something in between – the balanced approach, OptifAI will help you stay ahead of the field, continuously changing the game when it comes to scheduling your mobile workforce!
